Synopsis :
Ascendant immerses players in a dystopian future dominated by corrupt mega-corporations. The sprawling city is divided into districts, each controlled by key targets who wield immense power. Players assume the role of a skilled protagonist tasked with liberating the oppressed city by infiltrating, eliminating, and assassinating these influential figures. As a master of stealth, parkour, and cutting-edge technology, the protagonist navigates the treacherous urban landscape to dismantle the corporations' stranglehold.
Gameplay :
- The core gameplay revolves around stealth.
- Abilities can be unlocked using the ability points earned during the main missions.
- Use parkour to access difficult areas or to get away from hostile forces.

3. Prototype Development:
We are actively in the process of developing a working prototype for Project Ascendant, and we're thrilled to share our journey with you. Over the next month, we'll be creating and sending out videos that provide an in-depth look at our development process. Our aim is to give you a firsthand glimpse into the exciting world we're building. We appreciate your anticipation and can't wait to share this exciting milestone with our community. Challenges Faced:
Initially, our vision for Project Ascendant was vast and ambitious. The concept encompassed numerous features, expansive levels, and a complex narrative. However, as we delved deeper into the development process, we encountered challenges associated with scoping. It became apparent that the initial scope was too ambitious for our current resources and timeline. This led us to reevaluate and refine our vision through multiple iterations. After careful consideration and numerous design decisions, we've now settled on a milestone that will mark the achievement of our first prototype. This milestone strikes a balance between our creative aspirations and the practical constraints of development. It allows us to create a solid foundation for the game, focusing on key mechanics and features that define the core experience. This more manageable scope ensures a smoother development process and sets realistic expectations for our team and community.
One of the most significant challenges we faced during development was a critical issue with our Version Control Management (VCM). Unfortunately, due to poor VCM practices, we experienced the deletion of our entire work. This setback prompted us to reevaluate our VCM strategy to prevent such incidents in the future. By learning from the challenges we encountered and implementing these precautions, we aim to create a more resilient and efficient development environment. We appreciate your understanding and support as we navigate these aspects of the development journey for Project Ascendant.
What's Next:
- We are finishing up our player mechanics and creating a basic enemy AI system for playtesting.
- We are working on the level design for our first level of the game, which will be included in the final prototype.
- We are also finishing up the designing of sound foley assets and are integrating them into the main system.
- We intend to start our playtesting and gather all relevant bugs and issues, and work on debugging them, before the final prototype.
